More than 40,000 km2 of Ukrainian territory was subjected to radiation contamination as a result of the accident that took place at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant on April 26, 1986. The Zhytomyr oblast (29.8 thousand km2) was the most affected in Ukraine; over half of its area was subjected to radiation contamination.
The largest man-made accident of the 20th century is still having an impact on the city of Zhytomyr and the Zhytomyr oblast, as the frequency of malignant neoplasms in the region is 25% higher than in other areas.
As of February 2023, there are 292.1 cases of malignant neoplasms per 100,000 people in the Zhytomyr oblast.
From the total mortality rate, malignant neoplasms account for 14% of deaths in the Zhytomyr city territorial community (the 3rd place in the list of causes).
We offer the project “Greenfield construction of the cancer diagnostic and treatment unit of the Public Utility “Hospital No. 2 named after V. P. Pavlusenko” of Zhytomyr City Council at the address: 2a Romana Shukhevycha Str., Zhytomyr” (including preparation of design and estimate documentation) in order to improve the quality of early diagnosis of oncological disorders and to provide appropriate modern highly specialized medical care to the residents of the Zhytomyr city territorial community and the Zhytomyr oblast.
