On April 28, the Memorandum on Cooperation between the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Zhytomyr City Council was signed online within the framework of the project “Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the European Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine”.

The signatories of the Memorandum have undertaken a commitment to develop a municipal energy plan in order to reduce emissions and heat consumption by optimizing heat supply networks, analysis of consumption, implementation of measures on the optimization of energy consumption, use of alternative and local energy resources. Another commitment is to develop and implement energy efficiency measures in public buildings, which will be integrated into the plans of maintenance and care of buildings.

Within the framework of the project, the Zhytomyr city amalgamated community will be supported in the implementation of the municipal energy management and in the organization of energy efficient measures.

Drawing on the extensive experience gained due to the participation in the project “Energy Efficiency in Municipalities II”, the community will act as a mentor for other communities that have become partners of the Project and will share the experience in implementing municipal energy planning.

In January 2021, Zhytomyr city amalgamated community has been selected to become a partner for the new project
