On March 4, the Zhytomyr City Council signed a Memorandum on cooperation aimed at greening the city within the framework of the Project “Make Ukraine Green”.

Zhytomyr City Mayor Serhii Sukhomlyn, together with the Project coordinator, representative of NGO “CEO Club Ukraine” Vadym Parasochka and head of NGO “Center for Public Communications” Iryna Yarmolenko signed a Memorandum on cooperation and implementation of the all-Ukrainian project in which citizens of different regions participate.

Representative of NGO “CEO Club Ukraine” Vadym Parasochka noted that the greening movement is already gaining momentum.

“Since, at present, the biggest challenges that the world community is facing are related to environmental issues, we decided to unite people and show a success story and good deeds, which help remind citizens of the importance of caring for the natural resources of our country and to make Ukraine green together, – Vadym Parasochka told. – It is nice that many people responded to our initiative. Memoranda have already been signed with regional administrations, and many cities, territorial communities, and non-governmental organizations have joined. I hope this project will make Zhytomyr green!”

The signatories also emphasized the need for measures to combat climate change and their importance for environmental conservation, as well as the creation of comfortable living conditions.

“Zhytomyr citizens are not indifferent to environmental actions. After all, according to a survey conducted by our organization on Mykhailivska Street, residents understand the need to change approaches to environmental management and support such projects if initiated by the city authorities. When I visited the Climate Forum in Madrid, I was convinced of how positive the emotional and educational effect of large environmental actions is, such as the simultaneous planting of trees. Such events unite everyone around one important goal. I hope that greening in the form of such a public action will unite Zhytomyr citizens too!”, Iryna Yarmolenko said.

Therefore, within the framework of the Project “Make Ukraine Green”, on March 20, participants from all corners of Ukraine should plant 1,000,000 trees together in 24 hours. Citywide greening will be held in Zhytomyr on March 21.

We invite every citizen of the community to join the all-Ukrainian environmental action and submit their proposals for tree planting sites in the city.
