Experts involved in the development of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan of the Zhytomyr City Territorial Community until 2050 joined the meeting of the joint focus group “Action Plan for Implementation, Monitoring and Control of the Environmental Strategy of the Zhytomyr City Territorial Community”.
At the meeting, Ecoclub expert Olha Liashchuk familiarized the participants with the methodological approach to developing the adaptation component of the SEAP and reviewed the draft measures of the Environmental Strategy that were presented for discussion. Halyna Zhuravska, a co-author of the SEAP and an expert on municipal energy management, made proposals to synchronize the measures of the Zhytomyr Community Environmental Strategy with the Action Plan for Sustainable Energy and Climate Development until 2050.
In 2022, the Zhytomyr community joined the European Covenant of Mayors East initiative and committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The interim goals include a 35% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The development of a strategic document – the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan until 2050 – is an important step on this path.
