An official delegation from the municipality of Dortmund has been in the city for two days in a row on a working visit. As part of the visit of German colleagues, Bertram von Moltke, Permanent Deputy Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine, visited Zhytomyr. “I am glad to see the close cooperation between the cities. I am impressed by such a strong connection,” Bertram von Moltke emphasized.

Dortmund also solemnly handed over cars for the city’s utilities. In particular, two vehicles for emergency crews and special equipment for cleaning underground networks. Previously, Dortmund has already provided assistance to the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Zhytomyr region: a ladder truck that can climb 32 meters to 10 floors.

“Not long ago we signed a partnership agreement with Dortmund. I am representing our Zhytomyr team. I am glad that we can talk live, that you can see how our community lives. I am grateful to the municipality of Dortmund for its clear position of condemning the criminal acts of the Russian Federation. I thank Germany for its political and humanitarian support. This is a great solidarity with Ukraine and Zhytomyr,” said Viktor Kliminsky, Secretary of the City Council.

“In 2014, we started active cooperation with the GIZ office. Today, we have a number of implemented projects on our joint account. These include comprehensive thermal sanitation of educational institutions, housing for forced refugees, and improving the safety of transport infrastructure. We are well aware that the city must continue to implement development projects, because after our Victory we will face new challenges that the war will leave behind,” says Svitlana Olshanska, First Deputy Mayor.
