The visit of the Dortmund delegation to Zhytomyr marked another important step toward strengthening cooperation between our partner cities and developing new joint solutions for community development.

Over several days, representatives of the Dortmund municipality became acquainted with Zhytomyr’s key projects and discussed the restoration of urban infrastructure, enhancement of energy resilience, digital transformation, development of education and healthcare, as well as international cooperation. Special attention was given to the exchange of experience in municipal governance and the implementation of modern approaches to urban development.

The partnership between Zhytomyr and Dortmund demonstrates how international cooperation can serve as an effective tool for the socio-economic development of local communities. Joint initiatives contribute to the modernization of the urban environment, the development of residents’ competencies, the attraction of new knowledge and resources, and the creation of conditions for the city’s sustainable economic resilience.

The parties also discussed prospects for implementing new international projects, incorporating European expertise, and expanding partnerships among educational institutions, municipal enterprises, research organizations, and local governments.

Over the past year, cooperation between our cities has already delivered tangible results, including support for educational and healthcare institutions, the transfer of specialized equipment to municipal enterprises, the strengthening of the community’s energy resilience, and the creation of new opportunities for professional and cultural exchange. Looking ahead, even more joint projects are planned to support the recovery, modernization, and sustainable development of Zhytomyr.
