Representatives of NEFCO and the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine visited the construction site on Chervonyi Lane in Zhytomyr. Construction work on four four-storey houses for IDPs is scheduled to begin in March 2024 as part of the “Housing for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Reconstruction of Liberated Cities in Ukraine” program, which is funded by the European Union and managed by NEFCO’s Nordic Environment Finance Corporation.
The apartments will be one- and two-room, and will be equipped with household appliances and furniture. People with disabilities will also be able to feel comfortable in these buildings. The apartments located on the ground floors will also be inclusive (combined bathrooms, showers with folding seats, handrails near plumbing fixtures).
The adjacent territory and shelters will also take into account the needs of people with limited mobility. Solar panels will be installed on each building, and the apartments will be heated by the central heating system using alternative fuel. Parking spaces, a playground, green areas and recreation areas will also be arranged.
Cooperation with foreign partners and international organizations for the restoration and development of our community continues. The construction work within the project is just beginning, and we will inform about all further stages of implementation through the official communication channels of the Zhytomyr City Council.
