A Memorandum on Cooperation with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has been signed in Zhytomyr
Zhytomyr as a pilot community joins the project “EU4Business: SME Competitiveness and Internationalization” within the sector of the processing industry.
The project is co-financed by the European Union and the German government and is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The purpose of the project is to create better conditions for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, to support innovation, and stimulate export, which is a way towards sustainable and steady economic growth. Within the Team Europe approach, the project will also contribute to the recovery of Ukraine from the COVID-19 consequences.
During the online meeting with project partners, City Mayor of Zhytomyr Sergiy Sukhomlym pointed out that creating a logistic hub and clusters related to industrial processing are strategically important for the Zhytomyr community. ‘Plants are being constructed in Zhytomyr. The construction of one plant of an Italian company is almost completed, as well as the waste recycling plant. Several projects of enterprises are under development. The state also provides support to Zhytomyr: the project on the electrification of the railroad between Zhytomyr and Novohrad-Volynskyi is being implemented. This will provide the connection between 19 regional centres of Ukraine and connect us to western Ukraine.’
