At the end of November, a delegation from Zhytomyr took part in a study visit to the Republic of Estonia as part of the project “Support for the Reform of Vocational Education in Zhytomyr,” organized by the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV).
Over the course of four days, the participants studied Estonia’s experience in strategic planning for vocational education. Particular attention was paid to collaboration with labor market representatives, the development of educational programs, the formation of a network of educational institutions, and the effective use of resources.
One of the key topics was vocational education management. Participants became acquainted with how school administrations operate, how they cooperate with local authorities, and how change is managed in the education sector.
Special emphasis was placed on promoting vocational education. The delegation explored approaches to engaging future students and their parents, particularly mechanisms for attracting young people to vocational institutions.
Estonia demonstrates a successful model of involving employers in the development of educational programs, helping ensure that education meets the demands of the modern labor market.
During the visit, the Zhytomyr delegation established connections with colleagues from Rivne, Lviv, and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Discussions focused on future joint projects and experience sharing.
This study visit was an important step in reforming vocational education in Zhytomyr. The knowledge gained and contacts established will support the implementation of new approaches in the educational process, helping to improve the quality of education and better align it with the needs of modern society.
